The 70th Major League Baseball All-Star game was played on July 13th, 1999 at Boston’s Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox and for Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. it was his 17th selection as an All-Star and 16th as a starter. The game will long be remembered for Ted Williams throwing out the first pitch and being surrounded by the game’s stars with a chance to meet and shake his hand. Ripken, in his two plate appearances, recorded a hit and was plunked by Kent Bottenfield and ended up with an RBI and a run scored in the AL’s 4-1 victory. Ripken wore this home white Baltimore Orioles jersey during the 1999 All-Star Game at Fenway Park.

This Russell Athletic button-down jersey comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and features “Orioles” and a paraph sewn on across the front in black and orange tackle twill. Ripken’s number “8” is sewn on below in orange and black tackle twill with black piping running around the collars and down both sides of the buttons. The left sleeve has the Orioles’ bird logo patch, while the right sleeve has the number “7” in black tackle twill in memory of Cal Ripken, Sr. and below is the 1999 ALL*STAR GAME logo patch. The left front tail has the Russell size 48 tag with a “2” Extra Body Length” flag and a white tag below that has “1999” in black print. The back of the jersey has “RIPKEN” and “8” sewn on in black and orange tackle twill. Ripken signed this jersey in black marker below the end of the paraph on the front and inscribed “1999 ALL STAR GAME”. This jersey displays moderate game use with some stains on the sleeves and loose stitching on the paraph by the buttons. This jersey comes with a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr.
