This First Day Cover bears the signature of George H.W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States, and five other U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations. Bush served as ambassador from March 1, 1971 to Jan. 18, 1973. Other signatures include: Charles Yost (1969-71), Henry Cabot Lodge (1953-60), Arthur Goldberg (1965-68), George Ball (June, 1968-Sept. 1968) and Joe Scali (1973-74, 1974-75). The signatures appear in different black and blue inks. Bush’s is in black, under the “FIRST DAY COVER” insignia on the bottom left corner. The envelope is postmarked “Nov. 20, 1970, New York, NY” and the stamp also reads “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE” under the United Nations 25th Anniversary 6-cent stamp. “FIRST DAY COVER” is printed in blue around a gold rendering of the earth encircled by envelopes. The envelope measured 6.5 x 3.75 inches and has “U.N. Founded in San Francisco” written in pencil on the back, along with the six names of the signers and “Signed by six former ambassadors to the U.N.”. This item comes with a full PSA letter #T05887.
