Cincinnati’s beloved hometown hero Barry Larkin bust into the majors at the tail end of the 1986 season. The following year he assumed the role of the Reds starting shortstop and in 1988 he made the first of 12 All-Star Game appearances. The Louisville Slugger R205 bat shows heavy use with a cracked handle, plus some checking from repeated ball contact. Ball marks and stitch impressions can be seen on the barrel along with black ink ball transfers as are red bat rack streaks. Adhesive tape has been added to the handle in a crisscross pattern to enhance the grip and a light coat of pine tar can be seen. Larkin’s number “11” is hand written on the knob end in black marker. The Reds star has signed the barrel in blue marker. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat GU 8.5.
