The Baby Bull was selected as the NL's the Rookie of the Year in 1958, and with a middle of the order which also featured Willie Mays and Willie McCovey, the San Francisco Giants lineup was a force to be reckoned by opposing staffs. Cepeda finished 1962 with a .308 average, 35 homers and 114 RBI, helping lead the Giants into the World Series against the defensing champion New York Yankees. Cepeda's Hillerich & Bradsby signature model S2 bat shows light use and is uncracked. A few ball marks and stitch impressions can be seen on the barrel. The model number "S2" is stamped into the knob end. Cepeda has signed the barrel in blue marker and added "To Mead - My Good Friend 1962 WS Bat 3 for 4 Against Whitey Ford Day Game 1:PM Tuesday HOF 99 67 MVP ROY 58 379 HR". Despite some obvious factual errors: It was Game 6 where Cepeda had his good day against Ford, and was not a Tuesday, this bat was signed by Cepeda in this manner. PSA/DNA sticker number U77519 is affixed on the knob end. Letter of Authentication from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a GU 8.
