Former Major Leaguer Gary Sheffield was in his second season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999 where he earned his fifth overall All-Star Game selection and finished the year with 34 home runs, 1010 RBI and a solid .301 batting average. Sheffield wore this home white button-down Los Angeles Dodgers jersey during the 1999 season. This size 48 button-down jersey was manufactured by Russell Athletic and features the classic Dodgers’ script and a paraph sewn on across the chest in blue tackle twill. Sheffield’s number “10” is sewn on below in red tackle twill. The Russell Athletic size 48 tag, along with a “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA LENGTH” flags are sewn on the inside front left tail, along with a white tag that has “1999” in black. The back has “SHEFFIELD” and “10” sewn on in blue-on-white tackle twill. The left sleeve has two patches, one is a black patch with “PEE WEE 1” in white in memory of Hall of Famer Pee Wee Reese, who passed away on August 14th, 1999 and a “HEROES 42 ROBINSON” patch which was designed by artist Paul Rogers. There were 24 of these patches created and each player was able to choose which patch he wanted to wear – Sheffield chose Jackie Robinson. The right sleeve has the interlocking “LA” logo sewn on in blue, white and gray tackle twill. This jersey displays moderate to heavy game use with loose and frayed stitching on the numbers and letters and some minor dirt and soil stains. This jersey comes with a LOA from Bob Case, who was the manager of late Casey Stengel and acquired this jersey during his time in baseball.
