Born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Barack Obama is the 44th and current president of the United States. He was a civil-rights lawyer and teacher before pursuing his political career. He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, serving from 1997 to 2004. He was elected to the U.S. presidency in 2008 as the first African American President in history. This Hardcover 1977 Punahou High School sophomore yearbook features a young ‘Barry’ Obama in his class photo on page 56, Concert Choir on page 103 and the Boys JV Basketball team photo on page 143.
