This presented 16 x 9 ½ -inch land grant was presented to a Peter Louie from Orange County, New York, and was issued by the Detroit Land Office, then located in the Northwest Territory, and is for 240 acres. The Northwest Territory covered all of what is now Michigan, and aggressive expansion and settlement into the area occurred in the early 1800s. The land grant was signed by Jackson in black ink, and features some staining on the right side of the document. The Presidential Seal was affixed and is missing from the document. The signed document comes with an LOA from JSA.
