Presented here is an 11 x 14-inch extremely rare lobby scene card from the 1941 short subject "An Ache In Every Stake" lobby scene card. The short subject was directed by Del Lord and featured the slapstick comedy team The Three Stooges Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard. In the short subject, the Stooges are ice delivery drivers who've fallen asleep in their delivery wagon, with Curly using an ice block as a pillow, and his face gets frozen to the block. The Stooges break him free, then go about their deliveries. The Stooges are charged with delivering ice to Mr. Lawrence up a staircase so long that the ice melts by the time they reach the top. They bump into Mr. Lawrence holding a cake twice during their attempts, ruining his cakes on both occasions. After several attempts, they summit the stairs only to have Curly drop the ice block. Hilarity ensues when the Stooges force the house's hired help they delivered the ice block to quitting, and the Stooges take their place. The Stooges work in the kitchen, with Larry directing Curly to shave some ice, and Curly applies shaving cream and a razor to the block. Curly then stuffs a turkey, only to lose his watch and other items that the guest of a dinner party discovers. The guests think the items lost by Curly are prizes. The Stooges prepare a birthday cake that deflates, so they pump it up with gas. The Stooges bring the cake to Mr. Lawrence and sing "Happy Birthday" to the tune of "London Bridge is Falling Down," and when Mr. Lawrence blows out the candles, the cake explodes. Realizing the kitchen staff are the same ice deliverymen who made him drop his cakes, the Stooges leave in a hurry. They ride a flat board down the long stairs, crashing near the bottom. The presented lobby scene card is sepia and features The Three Stooges being angrily scolded by Mr. Lawrence and a baker in front of a bakery. "The 3 Stooges AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE PRODUCED BY DEL LORD AND HUGH MCCOLLUM A COLUMBIA SHORT SUBJECT PRESENTATION" appears on the bottom left corner of the lobby scene card. The rarest Three Stooges lobby scene card is in excellent condition with minimal edge and corner wear and comes from one of the most memorable of The Three Stooges short subjects.
