After spending four years with the Chicago White Sox, outfielder Mike Hershberger arrived in Kansas City for the 1965 season and proceeded to knock in 48 runs that year.
This light gray, button-down game used Kansas City Athletics vest-style jersey features Mike Hershberger’s number “3” on the front and back in green-on-gold tackle twill with a matching “A” logo stitched on the left chest. The front tail of the flannel jersey features a “TIM McAULIFFE INC.” manufacturer’s tag with the company’s Boston address and two white strip tags below that read “’65” and “40,” indicating the jersey’s year and size. The vest features various dark-colored buttons, common of tailoring modification at the time. The jersey exhibits evidence of light game use and appears to be all original. The jersey comes with an LOA from Dave Miedema, noted sports jersey expert.
