Back in November of 1913, the National League Champion New York Giants and 78-74 Chicago White Sox embarked on a World Tour that took the two clubs to exotic lands such as China and Australia, demonstrating the virtues of the national pastime. When they returned in March of 1914, a special Homecoming Dinner was given in their honor, and here's one of the souvenir programs, now 100 years old. This 11" x 8" book with soft brown leather cover is titled "THE HOME COMING" with a baseball logo and "JOHN J. GLEASON" embossed on the bottom-right corner. It 64 pages long and contains photos, songs, cartoons, poems and essays commemorating the two clubs representing the nation's two largest cities at the time. Considering its age, the program is in EX condition and its pages offer a genuine history lesson. A wonderful relic from a simpler time.
