Nicknamed “Tom Terrific,” Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver spent 12 seasons with the Mets where the 1967 National League Rookie of the Year and played a huge role in the “Miracle Mets” 1969 season that saw the team win their first World Series. The three-time Cy Young Award winner was a five-time NL strikeout leader, a three-time NL ERA leader, a three-time NL wins leader, and was selected to play in 12 All-Star games during a career that spanned 20 seasons. Seaver, who threw a no-hitter in 1978, had a career record of 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, 61 shutouts, and an ERA of 2.86 helped Seaver gain entry into Cooperstown on the first ballot in 1992.
Presented here is a five-button wool white with blue pinstripes Mets jersey signed and inscribed by Tom Seaver. “METS” in cursive appears across the chest in blue and orange felt. The number “41” appears on the chest and back of the jersey in blue-on-orange felt. A circular Mets patch is affixed to the jersey’s left sleeve. A “100th Anniversary” Major League Baseball patch commemorating the 100th year of Major League Baseball is in red, white, and blue and located on the right sleeve of the jersey. A Mitchell & Ness MLB Cooperstown Authentic Collection manufacturing tag appears on the jersey’s left front tail. A Mitchell & Ness manufacturing tag with a size “XL” flag is attached to the inside collar of the jersey. Mitchell & Ness MLB Cooperstown Authentic Collection and Mitchell & Ness retail tags are attached to the inside collar. Seaver signed and inscribed “HOF 92 311 W’s ROY 67 3x CY” with a blue marker on the chest of the jersey. The jersey is in pristine condition and the signature features some light bleeding.
