Completed on March 28, 1929 at a cost of $9.5 million, Chicago Stadium was the largest indoor arena in the world at the time. Affectionately known as the "Madhouse on Madison" it was a raucous arena with plenty of history. Chicago Stadium hosted five separate National Party conventions, heard hundreds of concerts including those by Elvis Presley the year he died, and countless rodeos, boxing matches and other events. However, it is best known for being the home of the Chicago Blackhawks from 1929-1994, for which this Stadium was built. It also was the home of the Chicago Bulls from their inception in 1967 through 1994. Offered is a locker from the famed locker room which was built beneath the stands. The Blackhawks and Bulls players could hear all the behavior between periods and halves, the walls literally rattling from the fans excitement. This solid wood locker measures a whopping 82" high, by 36-1/4" across, and 24-3/4" deep. It has a wooden black bench within for the players "comfort" and contains five hooks for various garments. There is a shelf above. Countless players roamed this home locker room, including such hockey stalwarts as Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull and Tony Esposito. Bulls favorites Michael Jordan, Chet Walker, Bob Love and Scottie Pippen. Without a nameplate we could never know for sure who sat in there, we do know the names above mingled in and around this particular locker each home game. It knew the heartache of final series losses, but also experience the champagne baths form a few Championships. This locker is a tremendous piece of Chicago sports history.
