2004 was a year of milestones for Randy Johnson. The game's most dominant left hander became only the 17th pitcher in MLB history to throw a perfect game, accomplished on May 18th against the Braves. The following month he struck out his 4,000th batter, becoming only the 4th pitcher to reach that mark. At the season's end the Big Unit had accounted for a remarkable 31.3% of the Diamond Backs wins, second highest in baseball history. He finished second in the Cy Young voting and led the majors with 290 Ks. The 2004 Rawlings PRO BU51 12 1/4" Pitcher's Glove shows evidence of excellent use. Palm, pocket and fingers display moderate wear and the deer tanned cowhide interior is darkened from perspiration. PSA/DNA sticker number 1G00076 has been affixed inside the palm. The glove has been customized by Johnson with a snap wrist strap that holds a sweatband in place and has been further altered with an elongated index finger sleeve. Johnson's number "51" is embroidered in black on the outside base of the thumb. The sure-bet Hall of Famer has signed his name on the thumb in black Sharpie and added "5XCY", "My Game Used", "Big Unit", 4875 K's" and 303 W". Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA. A signed letter from Randy Johnson that is also authenticated by PSA/DNA is included as well.
