On Aug. 21, 2013, New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki joined some elite company as one of only three players to collect 4,000 hits in profession baseball. More than 1,200 of Ichiro’s hits came while playing seven seasons in the Japanese Pacific League. Ichiro collected the milestone hit on a first-inning single off Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey. After a delay to celebrate his feat, Ichiro advanced to second base, where he put his foot on this very bag, which was used in the first two innings of the Yankees’ 4-2 win. The dirt covered bag features the “Schutt,” “Original Hollywood Bases” and “Jack Corbett” logos on top along with the official Major League Baseball logo. The underside of the base, also dirt stained around the borders, features the inscription “2nd Base” and “1-2 Inning” in bold, blue Sharpie and has month and year manufacturer markings. Each side of the base features New York Yankees logo plates, two of which are white with navy blue writing, while the other two are navy blue with white writing. The base, a major part of Yankees and MLB history, comes with an LOA from Steiner Sports and MLB Authentication number EK800268.
