Enshrined in Cooperstown in 1974, famed New York Yankee Mickey Mantle was one of the most potent offensive threats to ever play outfield in Major League Baseball. The greatest switch hitter to ever play the game, Mantle is the only player in MLB history to hit 150 home runs from either side of the plate. A member of baseball’s vaunted 500 Home Run Club, Mantle’s 536 home runs mark him 18th on the list and was the AL home run leader four times during his career. The seven-time World Series champion earned three AL MVP Awards as well as the Triple Crown and AL batting and RBI title in 1956. His 18 home runs, 40 RBI, 26 extra-base hits, 42 runs, and 43 walks are World Series records. Mantle won seven World Series championships during his 16-year career with the New York Yankees and retired after the 1968 season.
