Presented here is a miniature shoulder pad replica signed by feared Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus. Butkus, who played for the Chicago Bears for all his nine seasons, was one of the most feared linebackers in NFL history, with Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones remarking “Butkus was a well-conditioned animal, and every time he hit you, he tried to put you in the cemetery, not the hospital.” Opposing players both feared and respected Butkus tenacity on the football field, and the feared Bears linebacker was responsible for 27 fumble recoveries and many more fumbles due to his bone-shaking tackles. Twice named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Butkus intercepted 22 passes and was named to eight Pro Bowls during his nine seasons. Named to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary and 100th Anniversary Teams as well as the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 1960s and 1970s, Butkus was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.

The presented miniature replica Hutch shoulder pads with red drawstrings feature maroon plastic on the outer pads and white padding on the interior of the pads. “HUTCH MADE IN USA” appears in faded black on the front of the shoulder pads. Butkus signed and inscribed “HOF 79” on the left chest portion of the shoulder pad with a silver metallic paint pen. The shoulder pads feature worn leather, fading of the stitching on the pads, and a few scratches. The miniature Hutch replica shoulder pads signed by feared linebacker Dick Butkus come with a COA from PSA/DNA (AD75353).
