Former Detroit Tigers ace Max Scherzer wore this road gray Majestic size 48 button-down jersey in 2012 where he finished the season with a then career-high 16 wins and a 3.74 ERA. This jersey has been conclusively photo matched to 12 games by Resolution Photomatching, who also had “likely” matches to four additional games.
Resolution Photomatching’s conclusive matches for this jersey were the May 15th, May 31st, June 12th, June 23rd, June 28th, July 14th, July 27th, July 30th, August 15th, September 7th, September 12th and October 3rd games, while adding likely matches to the April 18th, April 29th, May 10th and August 10th games. Scherzer started 11 games of the 12 conclusive photo matches (did not start on July 27th) and in those 11 games, he had a 4-2 record, 3.92 ERA and 73 strikeouts – with his best start coming on August 15th where he pitched 7 shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. Those 15 games (including the likely matches), Scherzer wore this for 15 of his 18 road starts going 7-3 over 87 1/3 innings with 97 of his 231 season strikeouts.
This jersey features “Detroit” sewn on in cursive font across the chest in navy, orange and white tackle twill. Scherzer’s number “37” is sewn on the left center in the same navy, orange and white tackle twill. Navy piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons, with the Majestic tag screen printed on the bottom front left tail and the white Tigers team patch the reads “37 48 ’12 080” sewn on below. Tigers clubhouse manager Jim Schmakel marked the manufacturer’s label “JSG” in black marker on the Majestic tag to verify the jersey was worn by Scherzer. The back of the jersey has “SCHERZER” and “37” sewn on in navy, orange and white tackle twill. The left sleeve has the Majestic logo embroidered in navy. This jersey displays moderate use and Scherzer has signed his name in silver marker on the top of the “3” on the back and inscribed “37”. This jersey comes with a signed LOA Max Scherzer for the game use, plus a LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426994), who conclusively photo matched this jersey to 12 games, plus likely matches to four additional games.
