George Jung was a major drug trafficker working for the Medellin Cartel during the 1970s and 1980s where Jung smuggled cocaine into the United States. The cartel was responsible for bringing in 90% of the cocaine smuggled into the United States. Jung specialized in smuggling cocaine from Colombia into the United States and was earning up to $5 million a day smuggling cocaine into the country through stolen planes. His wildlife as a smuggler for Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel came crashing to an end when he was arrested in 1987. His fantastic story of drug smuggling and intrigue garnered the attention of Hollywood after the 1993 release of Bruce Porter’s book “Blow: How A Small Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellin Cartel and Lost It All” was released. The subsequent film, titled “Blow” after the slang term for cocaine, was written by David McKenna and Nick Cassavetes and directed by Ted Demme. The film, released in 2001 with Johnny Depp portraying Jung, grossed $83.3 million dollars at the box office.

Presented here are lot of two items signed by infamous smuggler George Jung. The fist item in this presented lot is an 8 x 10-inch photo of Jung smoking a cigarette in a suit while standing in front of a “No Smoking” sign. Jung strikes a contemplative pose as he takes a drag from his cigarette. Jung signed the photo with a blue marker. The signature is bold and the photo is in good condition. The second item in this presented lot is a 11 x 8-inch screenplay for the film “Blow” signed by Jung. The cover page is labeled “BLOW” on the cover. “Screenplay by David McKenna and Nick Cassavetes” appears on the cover. “Directed by Ted Demme” and “Based on the story of George Jung” appear on the cover. Jung signed the cover of the screenplay with a blue marker. The signature is bold and the script is in perfect condition. The entire lot of a screenplay and photo signed by George Jung comes pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
