Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among a total of eighty-seven copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, just three examples have achieved a higher, unqualified tier. With its brilliant and uninterrupted red background, and its pure white borders and reverse, this exceptional commemorative of the Pirates' managerial mastermind could only have emanated from one of the company's "factory" sets. Its centering is favorably proportioned, and the card's detail is tremendous – even the tiny blades of grass by the skipper's shoes are distinctly visible! Determined examination of the piece, in an effort to discern the reason for its encapsulation as a "mere" PSA NM-MT 8 specimen, reveals, perhaps, a whisper of wear at the lower-right corner's outermost tip. Particularly splendid Near Mint to Mint condition.
