Nicknamed “Dutch” by his father after his birth, Ronald Reagan struck an affectionate tone in this December 27, 1976 10 ½ x 7 ¼ -inch typed letter to a Mr. and Mrs. Art Vallee of Woodbury, New Jersey in response to an unspecified gift given to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Reagan addressed the couple as “Stash and Helene” suggesting a cordial relationship between the Reagans and the couple. Reagan goes on to say how happy he and Nancy are with the gift and how they’ll be taking it to their ranch for display. Reagan closes the letter with warm tidings, and “We wish you both the very best in the coming year, and again, our thanks.” Reagan signed the letter “Dutch,” his childhood nickname with a pen in black ink.  The presented letter features “RONALD REAGAN” embossed in blue on the top of the letter. “SUITE 812 10960 WILSHIRE BOULEVARD LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA 90024” is embossed in blue on the top right corner of the letter. The signature is bold and the letter contains three creasefolds. The letter comes with a 7 ½ x 4-inch envelope that is addressed to “Mr. and Mrs. Art Vallee Kings Highway and Valle Drive Woodbury, New Jersey 08096” in black print on the front of the envelope. A postal stamp labeled “LOS ANGELES CA 29 DEC 1976” is in black on the top of the envelope. A “USE CHRISTMAS SEALS SUPPORT YOUR LUNG ASSOCIATION” postal cancellation stamp is imprinted over the metered postage marker on the top right corner. The envelope features evidence of cornering and edging. The typed letter signed by the 40th President of the United States Ronald Reagan comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication.
