The 1986 New York Mets finished the season with a franchise-best record of 108-54 en route to their third National League pennant. The Mets faced the Boston Red Sox in the World Series and defeated the Red Sox in seven games. Presented here is a lot of 12 single and multi-signed baseballs from players of the 1986 New York Mets World Series team. The first item in this lot is an Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball. A “RAWLINGS” stamp appears on the west panel of the baseball in black. A “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears stamped in black on the west panel. The baseball features eight signatures with notable signatures from Mets pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre on the south panel and Hall of Famer Gary Carter signed the south panel of the baseball. The baseball was signed by all eight players with a blue ballpoint pen. The signatures have some elements of bleeding and the baseball displays toning throughout.

The second item is an ONL Feeney baseball signed and inscribed by Mets centerfielder Mookie Wilson. A “RAWLINGS” stamp in black appears on the east panel of the baseball. A “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” stamp in black appears on the west panel of the baseball. Wilson signed and inscribed “To Jeff Good Luck” with a blue ballpoint pen on the south panel of the baseball. The signature is bold and the baseball displays minor toning. The third item in this presented lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by Mets slugger Darryl Strawberry. Strawberry, the 1983 NL Rookie of the Year, was voted to 7 consecutive All-Star appearances while playing for the Mets. Strawberry was a formidable home run hitter and led the NL in home runs in 1988. Strawberry played an integral role in bringing the Mets their second World Series title in franchise history in 1986. The presented baseball features “RAWLINGS” stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears in black on the west panel of the baseball. Strawberry signed the sweet spot of the baseball with a blue ballpoint pen. The signature is bold and the ball features elements of toning throughout.

The fourth and fifth items in this lot are two Official American League Bobby Brown baseballs signed by former Mets pitcher Al Leiter. Leiter pitched for the Mets for seven years, earning one All-Star selection while playing for the team. Leiter pitched a no-hitter while playing for the Florida Marlins in 1996. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in blue on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-A” appears stamped in blue on the west panel. Leiter signed the north panel of the baseball with a blue ballpoint pen. The signature is bold, the stitching is intact, and the baseball displays minor elements of toning. The sixth item is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by former Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson. The switch-hitting Wilson is best remembered for hitting the ground ball that rolled through Bill Buckner’s legs in the 10th inning of the pivotal Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” is stamped in black on the west panel of the baseball. Wilson signed both the west panel and sweet spot of the baseball with a blue ballpoint pen. The signatures are crisp and the baseball features elements of toning throughout.

The seventh item in this lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter. Carter was a power hitter and was known for his magnificent defense of home plate. Carter earned 11 All-Star selections and played a pivotal role in the Mets 1986 World Series victory season. “RAWLINGS” is stamped on the west panel of the baseball in black, and “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears on the east panel in black. Carter signed the sweet spot of the baseball with a blue ballpoint pen. The signature is crisp and bold and the baseball features elements of toning throughout. The eighth item in this is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by Hall of Famer Gary Carter. Carter played five seasons for the Mets and earned nine All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger Awards during his tenure with the Mets that saw the famed catcher win the only World Series title of his 11-year career. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in black on the east panel, and “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” is stamped in black on the west panel. Carter signed his name on the sweet spot of the baseball with a blue ballpoint pen. The signature is bold and the baseball displays heavy elements of toning.

The ninth item in this lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by feared former Mets pitcher Dwight “Doc” Gooden. Gooden made an impact early in his career, snagging NL Rookie of the Year honors in 1984 while leading the MLB in strikeouts the same year. His performance during the 1985 season where he led the MLB in wins, strikeouts, and ERA earned him the Triple Crown award while also bringing home the only Cy Young Award of his career. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears stamped in black on the west panel. The 11th item in this lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by former Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra. Nicknamed “Nails” by fans for his hard-charging play, the three-time All-Star outfielder played an integral role during the 1986 Mets World Series season. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears on the west panel stamped in black. Dykstra signed the south panel of the baseball with a black ballpoint pen. The signature is bold and the baseball features elements of toning throughout. The 12th item in this lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by former Mets second baseman Tim Teufel. Teufel was known for his “Teufel Shuffle” batting stance where he wiggled his behind during the pitcher’s windup. Teufel was a member of the 1986 Mets team that won the World Series against the Boston Red Sox in seven games. “RAWLINGS” is stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears stamped in black on the west panel. Teufel signed the north panel of the baseball with a black ballpoint pen. The signature is bold and clear the baseball displays a moderate amount of toning. The 13th item in this lot is an ONL Feeney baseball signed by Mookie Wilson. “RAWLINGS” appears stamped in black on the west panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER RO-N” appears stamped on the east panel.
