Presented here is a Louisville Slugger game model Upper Deck Celebrity Home Run Challenge Bat signed by seven participants of the 1993 Celebrity Home Run Challenge at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on July 12, 1993. The charity event featured celebrities attempting to hit home runs in the name of charity, with Jordan winning the event with the furthest shot. In an act of foreshadowing, Jordan would don a Chicago White Sox uniform, the same team whose farm system he would play Minor League Baseball with when he abruptly retired from basketball during the fall of 1993. The event was known for an enthusiastic Tom Selleck, the star of the film “Mr. Baseball,” who hit the only home run over the right-field scoreboard. The presented bat features “125 LOUISVILLE SLUGGER” and “POWERIZED” stamped in black on the barrel of the bat. “UPPER DECK CELEBRITY HOME RUN CHALLENGE” appears stamped in black on the midsection of the barrel. “1993 ALL-STAR GAME FLO-JO BALTIMORE, MARYLAND” is stamped on the top barrel of the bat in black. The bat features seven signatures from athletes and stars and includes signatures from Hall of Fame basketball players Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing, actors Tom Selleck, Jim Belushi, and Bill Murray, former NFL running back and sportscaster Ahmad Rashad, and Olympic Gold Medalist Florence “Fl-Jo” Griffith Joyner. All seven of the signatures are bold and in black marker and appear on the barrel of the bat.
