Arguably the greatest hockey player to ever lace up skates, Wayne Gretzky retired in 1999 with 61 National Hockey Association records to his name. Gretzky has more total assists than any other player has total points, and his total goals, assists, and points are NHL records. Gretzky tallied over 200 points in four seasons, the only player to accomplish such a feat. Gretzky tallied 100 points in sixteen NHL seasons, 14 of them in consecutive order. Gretzky’s understanding of the game in its totality is unrivaled and helped Gretzky overcome his small stature. Gretzky played 20 seasons in the NHL for four teams, winning the Stanley Cup four times while playing for the Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999, the only player in NHL history to have the waiting period for entry waived.
