Called the “Halston of Halloween,” Ben Cooper Inc. manufactured Halloween costumes from the 1930s till the 1980s. The vinyl smocks and plastic masks were mainstays of American Halloween costumes and featured everyone from Richard Nixon to C-3PO. Presented here is a Ben Cooper “The Beatles” John Lennon costume. The costume comes in its original 11 x 12 ½ -inch box and features a plastic mask with realistic brown hair and eyebrows with cut-outs on the mouth and eyes of the costume. The features a vinyl and fabric smock that features “THE BEATLES” in a circular yellow felt patch with the images of the band members. The box is labeled “BEN COOPER COSTUME” on the top front of the open box display. “DELUXE QUALITY” and “FLAME RETARDANT” appear on the front of the box. The lateral sides of the box are labeled “BEN COOPER COSTUME DELUXE QUALITY FLAME RETARDANT” with “THE BEATLES JOHN LARGE (12 TO 14) WITH AUTHENTIC HAIR” on the front side of the box. The box features some cornering and a tear on the front and the costume is in great condition.
