The 1989 Major League Baseball season saw future President George W. Bush was a part of an investment group who purchased the Texas Rangers from oil tycoon Eddie Chiles. Bush, with a small equity in the investment, was named managing general partner of the team, a role he would serve in until he was elected Governor of Texas in 1994. 1989 was also the year that Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan joined the team. Ryan would become the first pitcher to ever record 5,000 strikeouts, and the 1989 season was noted for the Major League Baseball debut of future slugger Sammy Sosa. Ruben Sierra had an outstanding year as the led the American League in triples and RBI. The Rangers team finished fourth in the American League West with a record of 83-79.

Presented here is a Little League baseball signed by 14 members of the 1989 Texas Rangers organization. “DIAMOND 5oz. 9IN.” is stamped in black on the west panel of the baseball. “CUSHIONED CORK/RUBBER CENTER DLL” stamped in black on the east panel of the baseball. There are 14 signatures on the baseball with key signatures from Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, future president George W. Bush, manager Bobby Valentine, Rafael Palmeiro, and coach Davey Lopes. The signatures were signed with a blue ballpoint pen and are bold and feature no elements of bleeding. The baseball is a pristine white and comes with an LOA from JSA (Z31782).
