This is a very nice example of a full “pink” ticket to the July 4, 1941 Lou Gehrig Memorial game, played approximately a month after his passing. Actually, due to a rainy Independence Day, the game was played on July 6, 1941. However, this scarce ticket is from the “Mezza Box” level, rarely seen and far less common than the “Grandstand” variety. The ticket has a small paper clip indentation along the top edge affecting the “O” in Lou, a small semi-circle crease along the lower right edge, plus a small scratch near the staggering “$2.20” price on the lower portion. However, Gehrig’s image is pristine, and the reverse is free of any ink stamps or writing, so very common with these tickets. But, there is a small stain on the reverse. While the ticket technically grades lesser, it displays beautifully as EX/MT with bold print and tremendous color. This is a very desirable scarce and full ticket from one of the most heartfelt games in Major League Baseball history. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA as AUTHENTIC.
