San Diego Padres Hall of Fame right fielder Tony Gwynn wore this white Padres home jersey during the 1997 season. 1997 was possibly the best season of the former San Diego State Aztecs’ career. Gwynn won his eighth batting title with a stunning .372 mark while setting career-highs in home runs (17) and RBI (119). Gwynn, an All-Star in 1997, also led all of baseball in hits, with 220.
This pinstriped, white button-down home jersey has “PADRES” sewn across the chest in navy, white, and orange tackle twill. “GWYNN” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill, with his number “19” sewn below in navy, white, and orange tackle twill. A Padres patch is sewn on the left sleeve, and the “Jackie Robinson 50th 1947 1997 BREAKING BARRIERS” patch and Russell Athletic logo sewn on the right. A Russell Athletic size “50” tag with an attached “100% Polyester” tag is sewn on the front left tail. This jersey shows light use and has been signed by Gwynn on the back of the jersey below his number in black marker. This jersey comes with a COA from the family of Tony Gwynn, authenticating the game use and signature.
