Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in a Rookie Card appearance. Among more than 625 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, just five examples have been placed at a higher tier. This extremely popular, debut-year image of Reese pictures the famed Dodger in a smiling portrait likeness set against the issue's distinctive pastel background. During the 1941 campaign that saw "Pee Wee" assume the regular shortstop role for the Boys of Summer, Play Ball was the issue of choice among young collectors. The lack of color cards from competing manufacturers added to the popularity of '41 Play Ball, yet the supply of high-grade examples available to our hobby today is perennially scant. The offered showpiece is nicely centered, and each of the four corners culminate in sharp points. The cardfront exhibits a pleasing soft-white hue, projecting its innovative design while the reverse is clean and legible. The card enjoys tremendous visual appeal, with fully uniform colors that are essentially free of the issue's usual printer's inconsistencies or blemishes. A pack-fresh example, in Near Mint to Mint condition.
