“Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope” premiered to commercial and critical acclaim when it was released on May 25, 1977. Fans lined up to watch Luke Skywalker learn the ways of the Force while aiding Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi in their struggle against Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. The public clamored for the toys based on the hit science-fiction film, but Kenner, who held the toy licensing rights to the film, could not supply the demand in 1977, missing the crucial Christmas holiday. The toy company would ramp up production in 1978, producing 40 million action figures, vehicles, and toys from the movie and earn $100 million in revenue.

Presented here is an original Star Wars 12 Back-C Princess Leia Organa action figure graded NM 80 by the Action Figure Authority. Princess Leia's figure in white from the film rests inside a sealed bubble attached to the 6 x 9-inch card. “STAR WARS” is labeled across the top of the card in silver. An illustration of Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber aloft while standing behind Princess Leia is located on the card's right corner. “Ages 4 and up” child age restriction label is located on the top right portion of the card. “PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA” is labeled on the card’s midsection atop a production still of the Princess from the film. “KENNER” appears in blue and white on the bottom right corner. The reverse side of the card features illustrations of all 12 available Star Wars action figures, as well as the Tie Fighter, Land Speeder, And X-Wing vehicles available. The illustration showing how to operate the lightsabers that come with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker is located next to the illustration of the 12 action figures and is the variant “B” due to the change in instructions on how to operate the lightsaber. The bottom portion of the card features a Kenner “Proof of Purchase” and instructions on how to send the proof of purchase to get a Star Wars Action Collector’s Stand. The card is punched and features some elements of curling. The Star Wars Princess Leia Organa 12 Back-B carded action figure comes encapsulated and authenticated by the Action Figure Authority (10749407) and is graded NM 80.
