This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/26/2014
Offered is a 5-1/2 x 4 inch Burke and Atwell Postcard honoring the 1910 World Championship Philadelphia A's team, their first title team in their mini-dynasty from 1910-1914 where they won three World Series, but losing in 1914. This scarce postcard features photo images of all the greats of that era with Eddie Collins, Chief Bender, Eddie Plank, Stuffy McInnis, Home Run Baker, Jack Coombs, manager Connie Mack and 17 more players. Each players name is printed on the bottom border along with the manufacturer and printer names. The reverse shows the message upon when this card was mailed Oct 24, 1910 from Chicago, Ill to a John Pribble of Arthur, Ill. The baseball content reads "I thought you were coming up to the World Series, but you didn't miss much I guess. This bunch is a great ball team, I was very much surprised at them winning so easy, E.M.F"; The A's throttled the Chicago Cubs that series 4-1, as Jack Coombs threw three complete games victories over a five day stretch. Card has some surface issues, light soiling and a couple edge tears along the bottom. Graded by SGC 10 POOR 1.
