This approximately 30-inch blue-and-red Washington Senators pennant has "Champions - 1933" vertically along the left hand side. Since the famed 1933 Senators team lost that World Series in five games to the New York Giants, the manufacturer obviously meant American League Champions. It appears to showcase the image of pitcher Alvin "General" Crowder, the Senators top hurler with “WASHINGTON SENATORS” in white appliqué. There is a small metal grommet at each corner of the spine for hanging, with each also securing two abbreviated tassels. However, the upper grommet has completely separated from the pennant’s mainland, the lower “corner” contains a few pinholes and the tip does not come to an exact point, grading an overall VG. Just a handful of examples of the offered pennant are known to exist! Impressively mounted and framed to a dimension of 36 x 18-1/4 inches. Tremendously scarce item from the last pennant winner of the famed Washington Senators franchise (which moved to Minnesota in 1961 and became the Twins).
