Meeting for an NBA record third consecutive time in the Finals, Golden State, led by the “Big Four” of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, hit an NBA record of nine three-pointers in the first quarter alone and dominated the first half of play. LeBron James and the Cavaliers would show some life during the second half, closing the gap to 94-89 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers would go up 113-107 with under three minutes remaining, with thoughts of victory in their grasp until the Warriors scored 11 unanswered points. Durant would put the nail in the coffin for the Cavs when he sunk a three-pointer with 45.3 seconds left to secure the win for the Warriors. The Warriors would win the game, 118-113, their third in a row and an NBA record of 15 consecutive playoff wins to go up three games to zero. The Warriors would ultimately win the Finals in five games, winning their second NBA title in three years.
