Lou Piniella was a key member of the back-to-back World Series New York Yankee teams of 1977 and 1978, and Piniella used this bat during that first title year. Based upon factory order records, the labeling period and player use characteristics indicate this bat was used during the 1977 season. This un-cracked 34.5 inch, 31.4 ounce S2 signature model bat has "Lou Piniella" scripted on the barrel with the "S2" model number above. It exhibits evidence of light use with a few ball marks and stitch impressions, and the handle is taped in a 13.5 inch long spiral pattern, enhanced with a light coating of pine tar. All factory stampings are extremely bold and deep, highlighting the extreme care the company used in production. Piniella's number is written on the knob in black marker, which has appropriately faded over time. On the sweet spot is a bold, blue Sharpie "Lou Piniella" signature. Full LOA for the bat from PSA/DNA, cert number 1B04326, and full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number S12546 for the signature.
