In an ALCS defined mostly by a non-playing fan in right field, the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles in a very intriguing five game series. Down 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning of Game 1, rookie of the year winner Derek Jeter lofted a long fly ball to right field where fan Jeffrey Maier reached over the fence to grab the likely out away from right fielder Tony Tarasco for an improbable home run. (Interestingly, this game was also Mariano Rivera’s first of his 33 ALCS appearances, and his first ALCS win!). The Yankees would use another of their patented late inning comebacks against Mike Mussina in Game 3, then taking the next two games. This official program is signed on the cover by six members of that series with bold blue Sharpie signatures of Derek Jeter, Joe Torre, Doc Gooden, Joe Girardi, Ramiro Mendoza and David Wells, who was a member of the Orioles in this series, winning Game 2. This program has much more room for additional signatures. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
