With the popularity of 1997-98 Metal Universe, Fleer put out a new release later that basketball season with Metal Universe Championship. It had the same fun and flair, but with a slightly different twist and a bigger focus on rookie cards. Precious Metal Gems were back, but they had bit different approach as well with swirling patterns and are only numbered to 50. Along with PMG are the chase inserts of Championship Galaxy (1:192) and Hardware (1:360) featuring the likes of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.
The presented hobby box comes with 24 packs and eight cards in each pack. Untouched Rookie Cards of Tim Duncan and Tracy McGrady could potentially be found. The unopened box has its original factory cellophane wrapping, and shows minimal wear over time.
