Among the most storied teams in the New York/San Francisco Giants history, the 1954 World Series champions surprised the heavily favored Cleveland Indians in a four-game sweep. Willie Mays made his famous “catch” and Dusty Rhodes provided the home run heroics as the Giants won their last World Series in New York before moving to San Francisco in 1958. This commemorative Louisville Slugger bat was created by the Hilerich & Bradsby company and is engraved with the names of the entire 1954 N.Y. Giants roster in a combination of facsimile signatures and block letters including, manager Leo Durocher, Willie Mays, Monte Irvin, Alvin Dark, Sal Maglie, John Antonelli, Dusty Rhodes and White Lockman. The names of Hoyt Wilhelm and Frank Bowman have been smudged off by apparent water damage but otherwise the dark brown bat is in good condition. The engraved signatures have been protected by a white tube sock and an original business card of John A Hillerich, president of the Hillerich and Bradsby Co. reading: “Compliments and Best Wishes of Hillerich and Bradsby,” is tied to the bat’s handle.
