Opening Day Auction 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/26/2014
Only 28 players in Major League Baseball history belong to the elite 3,000-hit club. Amazingly, 15 of them have signed this extremely rare baseball with accompanying 5x7-inch plaque featuring 13 of the players’ names engraved. The list is headlined by Pete Rose, baseball’s all-time hits leader at 4,256. The group that signed this baseball, mostly in bold, blue ink, certainly doesn’t slack off from there, as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Dave Winfield, Lou Brock, Stan Musial, George Brett, Eddie Murray, Paul Molitor, Carl Yastrzemski, Robin Yount, Rod Carew, Al Kaline, Tony Gwynn and Wade Boggs all appear on the item. Gwynn and Boggs signed the ball later and do not appear on the plaque. Room remains on the baseball for collectors looking to add members of the 3,000-hit club, such as Derek Jeter, to the already star-studded lineup appearing here. The baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA.
