For Derek Jeter, 2012 was a milestone year from the Yankees captain as he passed both Paul Waner and Tony Gwynn on the all-time career hits list. This Louisville Slugger P72 is one of the bats he used in his relentless drive to become the first Yankee to reach the 3,000 hits mark. This offered bat was used by Jeter to hit his 247th career home run during the June 20th, 2012 game. Jeter homered off of Atlanta Braves’ pitcher Tommy Hanson in the bottom of the first inning during the Braves’ 10-5 victory at Yankee Stadium.

This all-black bat displays outstanding game use with a slight crack on the upper handle. There are many ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs present on the barrel, along with some cleat imprints and slight checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact. The handle has a moderate coating of Mota Stick and the bat’s manufacture date “05/24/12” and length/weight “34.0/32.0” are stamped on the knob in white. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13288) who have given this bat a very high grade of GU 9.5. There is also a LOA from Steiner Sports signed by Jeter for the game use, along with a COA from Steiner Sports.
