“The Ol’ Perfessor” is mulling over his options on the dugout bench and doesn’t seem all-too-pleased in this telling portrait of original New York Mets manager Casey Stengel, who guided the fledgling franchise through its first three-and-half seasons from 1962-1965. This “Amazing” 16” x 20” full color photo of the first face-of-the-franchise is signed by 19 of Stengel’s early corps in four descending columns on either side of Casey and includes: Al Jackson, Joe Pignatano, Ed Kranepool, Ed Bouchee, Hobie Landrith, Roger Craig, Clem Labine, Craig Anderson, Ken Mackenzie, Felix Mantilla, Galen Cisco, Joe Ginsburg, Rick Herscher, Frank Thomas, Jay Hook, Ray Daviault, Sherman Jones, Sammy Drake, and Joe Christopher. All signatures are in metallic silver sharpie with inscriptions reading “62 Mets” or “Original Mets.” Jay Hook’s inscription reads: “1st Mets win.” Handsomely matted and displayed in 32” x 32” Cherry wood frame which also contains a PSA/DNA encapsulated index card with “Casey Stengel” signature in bold black Sharpie. This charming piece of Original Mets nostalgia has been pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
