At the end of his career, Mickey mantle was still a power threat every time he came to the plate. On May 14, 1967 Mantle blasted career home run No. 500 off Stu Miller of the Baltimore Orioles, becoming the 6th player in history to reach that milestone. This approximate 7.75” x 9.5” vintage wire photo shows Mantle connecting on that 500 HR. It appears to be hand trimmed along each side, and was likely an original 8” x 10” photo. The reverse has an affixed portion of the original newspaper photo, and the date stamp “MAY 15 1967” plus a few editor markings. A classic original photo from one of Mickey’s most memorable home runs.
