Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Rookie Card. The two greatest players in Brazil’s storied soccer history, Pele and Garrincha, shine on this magnificent Swedish Rekord Journal collectible dating to the year of Brazil’s first World Cup title. Pele led Brazil to the World Cup title for the first of three times in 1958, scoring a pair of goals against host nation Sweden in the tournament final. This hand-cut rookie card shows Pele and Garrincha in front of a sky-blue background. Please note that the name printed below Pele’s portrait, “Edvaldo Alves Santarosa,” is the government name of Brazil star Dida, emphasising Pele’s status as an unknown rookie to the European soccer establishment. Below Garrincha’s portrait is his name, Manoel Francisco Santos. Of the 97 examples of this card in PSA’s population report, this card is one of eight graded at its tier, with only two graded higher. Mint condition.
