Hank Greenberg was a huge slugger in the 1930s – 40s, and challenged Babe Ruth’s record of 60 HRs in 1938 before ending up with 58. He was the first player drafted into WWII, missing almost four full seasons. He likely would have hit over 500 HRs if not for this missed time. Includes: 1934 – famed Tigers infield of 1934 with Gehringer, Rogell and Owen, with paper caption on verso. 2) 1934 – World Series HR for Greenberg, with paper caption. 3) 1937 – spring training BP with Cochrane in back. 4) 1945 – taking batting practice after returning to baseball form WWII duty. 5) 1945 – Greenberg whacking another World Series HR. Great group of photos from the original “Hammerin’ Hank.”
