Justin Upton, the first overall pick of the 2005 MLB Draft, hasn’t taken long to prove his worth in just seven years in the league. Upton is a two-time All-Star who finished fourth in the NL MVP voting in 2011, the same year the prized outfielder took home a Silver Slugger award. These pairs of game-used Franklin batting gloves come from Upton’s days as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he spent the first five years of his MLB career before moving on to Atlanta. Both pairs of batting gloves feature “JU-10” inscriptions on the Velcro straps used to fasten the item. Upton wore number “10” in Arizona, but switched to number “8” with the Braves. The first set of gloves are white with gray on the index fingers and palms. The top of the gloves feature a Franklin logo patch on a maroon backdrop. The wrists of the gloves are also maroon. “CARBON FIBRE” appears across the knuckles of the gloves in black. The second set of batting gloves are predominantly black, but also feature gray on the index fingers and palms. “CARBON FIBRE” appears across the knuckles in white on this pair. Both sets of gloves have MLB logos on the wrist straps. The gloves show heavy signs of use, most notably staining and wear in the palms likely from pine tar and gripping the bat. Franklin manufacturer’s tags appear on the inside of the right hand of both gloves and read size “ADULT XL.”
