Opening Day Auction 2014

Few first baseman in Major League Baseball today pack the rare combination of offensive and defensive talent that Mark Teixeira does. The five-time Gold Glove and three-time Silver Slugger winner joined the Bronx Bombers in 2009 and enjoyed one of the best years of his career at the plate, hitting 39 home runs to go with 122 RBIs in leading the Yankees to a World Series title. Teixeira has produced for New York ever since. Though his 2013 season was shortened due to injury, this game used home jersey is unique in that it was worn by Teixeira in his season debut against the Red Sox on May 31. Teixeira was 0-for-3 in the game, but drew a walk and scored a run in New York's 4-1 win. The white-and-blue pinstriped button-down jersey features an “NY” logo on the front left chest of the jersey with Teixeira’s number “25” on the back, both in navy blue tackle twill. The front tail of the jersey boasts a “Majestic Authentic Collection” manufacturer’s tag with three affixed tags that read “2013,” “48,” and “Taper,” indicating year, size and size modifications. A New York Yankees butterfly patch below the manufacturer’s tag boasts a scan bar and number “0000002888.” The game used jersey, which shows light evidence of game use, comes with MLB Authentication number “EK641507” and an LOA from Steiner Sports Memorabilia.
