Although the 1981 Major League season was halted by a players' strike and subsequently split into two seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers, that year's World Series victors were lauded with the same praise and hardware as in seasons before and since. Presented is one such prize: a 12 inch World Series trophy presented to Los Angeles Dodgers front office executive Bob Schenz for his contributions to the 1981 championship team. Schenz worked for the Dodgers from 1959-1988, participating in many areas of their front office. Arranged on a 7-1/8” diameter wooden base, a metallic baseball and gold-plated crown reside at the platform's center, with New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers press pins accenting the display. Keeping with the trophy's tradition, gold-colored pennants line the circumference, ascending in height from front to back. Surrounding the base, a gold-colored plaque bears a printed legend of the event, reading “LOS ANGELES DODGERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY Presented by the Commissioner of Baseball October 28, 1981 BOB SCHENZ”. This trophy exhibits minimimal overall wear, with light tarnishing and some of the names on a few flags have lightened over time. Still, this is a wonderful relic of the Dodgers first World Series title since 1965. Trophy comes with a Peter O'Malley signed letter stating that this trophy was from Bob Schenz personal collection.
