Dubbed “the poet laureate of sports” by numerous journalists, noted photographer Walter Iooss Jr. is best known for his award-winning images of sports’ greatest athletes. Known for his photoshoots with Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Scottie Pippen and Muhammad Ali, Iooss Jr. shot multiple covers of Sports Illustrated and had his work featured on 27 baseball cards for an Upper Deck set dubbed “The Iooss Collection” in 1993 and is considered a legend in the field of sports photography. Presented here are 65 33 x 22-inch negative photograph collection of Super Bowl MVP’s, with 23 of the negatives signed by Super Bowl MVP’s. The negatives are in various forms of condition and feature the subjects in various poses that are both candid and poignant, with the negatives giving a whole new dimension and life to the heroes of Super Bowl lore. There are 23 examples signed by Super Bowl MVP’s with a black marker at the bottom of the examples, with key signatures from Hall of Famers Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Kurt Warner, John Elway, Lynn Swann, Len Dawson, and Marcus Allen. Other signed examples include those of Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, and Jim Plunkett among others. The collection of examples shot by Walter Iooss Jr. commemorating Super Bowl MVP’s from the history of the NFL is a splendid look back at some of the greatest players to ever step foot on the gridiron during the Super Bowl and a stunning collection from one of sports’ most celebrated photographers.
