Presented is a lot of 14 items from the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, including items signed by former U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team midfielder Michelle Akers. The first item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 Official Program. Akers has signed her name in black marker, inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature, and inscribed “91 World Cup Champs Official WC Program FIFA” below her signature. The second item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 Tournament News Kit Vol. 1.  Akers has signed her name in black marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature, and inscribed “99 World Cup Champs” below her signature on the spiral-bound collection of photocopies of newspaper and magazine clippings.

The third item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on a photocopy of a July 12, 1999 San Francisco Chronicle newspaper clipping, headlined “Akers Epitomized U.S. Effort.” Akers has signed her name and inscribed “#10 USA” in black marker across the top of the 8½ x 11-inch white paper sheet, and inscribed “We Did It! World Champions! Record Crowds Record TV Viewership!” across the bottom of the page. The fourth item in this lot is a ¾ x 1¼ -inch color cloisonné lapel pin for the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 in original plastic packaging. The fifth item in this lot is a 1¼ x 1¼ -inch color cloisonné MEDIA badge for FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 in original small plastic box.  The sixth item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 Official Program. Akers has signed her name in black marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature.

The seventh item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on a 1999 U.S. Women’s World Cup Team publicity photo sheet with color photos of 10 members of the ’99 team on an 8 x 10-inch sheet. Akers has signed her name in black marker across the top nearest her photo (top left), and inscribed “#10 USA 99 World Cup Team Champions!” alongside her signature. The eighth item in this lot is a full ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 opening ceremonies and first two matches at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on June 19, 1999. The ninth item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup Media Guide Tournament Edition. Akers has signed her name in black marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature.  The 10th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on her competitor’s pass for the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99. She has signed her name in black marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature on the 4 x 6-inch laminated plastic pass with black cloth lanyard. The 11th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup Media Guide. Akers has signed her name in silver marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature. The 12th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup Media Guide. Akers has signed her name in silver marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature. The 13th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on the front cover of a FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 information folder. Akers has signed her name in black marker on the front cover and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature. Below her signature, she has inscribed “99 WC Info Pocket to Promote the World Cup! We had to work and play to make this tournament a success! 1999 World Champions!”.

The 14th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on a Nike goalie’s glove (left hand).  Akers has inscribed “WWC 99” in black marker on the white leather and vinyl back of the glove, has signed her name below the inscription, and inscribed “USA” below her signature.  The glove shows signs of significant wear on the palm, fingers and wrist. The 15th item in this lot is a 12-inch multi-color ribbon embroidered “USA ’99 Watch Me Play” on the front.  The 16th item in this lot is an Akers signature and inscription on a navy-blue FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 baseball cap. Akers has signed the brim in silver marker and inscribed “#10 USA” alongside her signature. The cap features a FIFA Women’s World Cup USA ’99 logo patch embroidered in gold, red, white, blue and green on the front and a purple Adidas logo embroidered on the back of the adjustable cap.  This lot comes with a LOA from Akers.
