The USS Indianapolis suffered the greatest single loss of life at sea in the history of the US Navy and was the last major US Navy ship sunk by enemy action in WWII. On 30 July 1945, shortly after delivering critical parts for the first atomic bomb to be used in combat, the ship was torpedoed by a Japanese sub. Of 1,196 men on board, only 317 men survived to be rescued four days after the sinking. This collection consists of 17 hand signed 3x5 photographs by survivors of the USS Indianapolis, 3 of which have since since passed away.
