Offered here are two game used baseballs from 1954 and 1955 that highlight two career wins by pitcher Brooks Lawrence. Both baseballs are Official National League Warren Giles stamped baseballs. The first ball is a heavily inscribed ball dated to June 30, 1954. Across the sweet spot is the line score that reads “CARDS: 100 040 501 -11:14:1” and “REDS: 100 000 020 -3:9:0”. The adjacent panel has “R.B.I’s JOE CUNNINHAM 5 RIIP 4: JABBO, 2 2B.H. Moon: Alex H.R. Joe. C 2:: RIP, 2 L.O.B. CARDS, 9 REDS, 12 B.O.B. OFF: FOWLER, 1 PERKOW’l, 2 SAVRAN’y 2 BROOKS, 5”. Another panel has “BROOKS LAWRENCE’s VICTORY BALL No. 2-1 OFF: FOWLER (6-4) WED.NITE.JUNE 30/54 TIME: 2:57 ATT: 12,021”. The ball displays heavy toning and age wear and comes with a LOA from MEARS (316958) for the game use.
The next ball is from the August 13, 1955 game. Across the side panel and sweet spot is the box score “CINCINNATI – 302 000 200 – 7-9-1” and “CARDINALS – 003110003 – 8-11-0. Inscribed on the panel below is “RBI BOYER-3 MOON-3-MUSIAL VIRDON 2BH-MUSIAL VIRDON BOYER H.R. VIRDON-MOON D.P. GRAMMAS-MOON L.O.B.-CARDS-4 CINCY-4 V-LANDES-BARLICK BALLAFANT JACKOWSKI AUG. 13, 1955”. The opposite panel has “VICTORY” and “LAWRENCE OPPONENTS NUXHALL, MINARCIN, GROSS H.O. LAWRENCE B.B. LAWRENCE S.O. LAWRENCE T- 2hr. 27min A-8903”. This ball displays toning and surface wear and comes with a LOA from MEARS (316959) for the game use.
