Presented is a lot of two signed baseball bats from former Major League Baseball sluggers Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. The first item in this lot is a Mark McGwire signature and inscription on a Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick Mark McGwire Cardinals model bat. McGwire has signed his name in black marker on the barrel and inscribed “70” below his signature. The former St. Louis Cardinals first baseman slugged 70 home runs in the 1988 season, breaking Roger Maris’ 1961 record of 61 homers in a single season. McGwire’s record stood until Barry Bonds hit 73 in the 2001 season. This bat comes with a LOA from JSA (BB36657). The second item in this lot is a Sammy Sosa signature and inscription on a black Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick Sammy Sosa Professional Model bat. Sosa has signed his name in silver marker on the barrel, inscribed “#21” above his signature, and “66 HR MVP” below his signature. IN the 1988 season, Sosa chased McGwire and Ken Griffey Jr. in the race to break Roger Maris’ 61 home run single-season record. The Chicago Cubs right fielder finished second with 66 but won the National League MVP honor. This item comes with a COA from JSA (GG51019).
